Course Rules

Attendance:  It's your choice how regularly to attend the lectures, but remember that these classes cover the material that will be on the hour exam and the final. You are expected to attend the discussion classes, and you should be prepared to join in the discussion.

Promptness:  Class starts within a minute or two of the announced hour.  Please plan to be there and in your seat by that time late arrivals are distracting and disruptive. Likewise, please plan to stay through to the end of the class.  If you must leave class in the middle, say for a medical reason, please let me know why.

Food:  Please don't bring food to class, unless it is celebratory food meant to be shared with the whole class.

Late papers:  There is a grading penalty for late papers, unless we have reached an understanding ahead of time. Extensions are possible, but they are not automatic. If you can see in advance that you will have trouble meeting the deadline for a paper, or if an emergency comes up, get in touch with me right away. Don't hesitate to call me at home: 346-1522.

Proofreading:  Proofreading your work is basic academic good manners, and professors take offense when it isn't done. In flagrant cases of failure to proofread I will grade papers down. If someone else types it for you, it's still your responsibility to catch the errors. Corrections can be made by hand.

Honor Code:  All work in the course is done under the Honor Code.  If you have any doubts about how the Code applies to the work in this course, please ask.
